Twenty or so years ago, the battery electric vehicle (BEV) arms race began with exotic vehicles of all sorts, cars like the Tesla Roadster or the more recent Jaguar I-Pace. But thankfully, the world is now being fed regular models powered by batteries too, and today's subject is one of those: the Mercedes EQB 250 Luxury Line.
There is a little sidenote to the title you need to know. The first thing: In the past, Skoda has made some excellent RS models, but also some “Don’t even call that an RS”. Na bijna 1.000 km testen op Belgische wegen, snelwegen en bochtige secundaire routes, zat ons verbruik op 2,2 l/100 km en 14,2 kWh/100 km, cijfers die je eigenlijk alleen verwacht bij een veel kleinere plug-in, maar zeker niet bij een S-Klasse Lang-limousine. En toch: de S 450 e Lang overtuigde ons op elk vlak. Misschien zijn we nog altijd fans van eine sterke S-Klasse-diesel, maar deze hybride versie wist ons hart op onvermoede manier te veroveren.
