F1's new safety car has all-wheel drive for the first time in history

Mercedes has introduced the AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ as Formula 1's new safety car, debuting at the Hungarian Grand Prix. It produces 612 hp and 850 Nm from a biturbo V8 and is the first F1 safety car with all-wheel drive, alongside new aerodynamics and a signalling system built into the rear wing. Both cars in Hungary wear a livery marking 30 years of Mercedes supplying the safety car.

Ford has added a Puma ST Edition that builds on the ST Powershift with a Handling Pack featuring coilover suspension developed by KW Automotive, stiffer springs and a 10 mm lower ride height. It wears exclusive Azura Blue paint with a black roof, plus illuminated scuff plates and a sports steering wheel. The 170 PS EcoBoost Hybrid powertrain carries over unchanged.

Geely just got a European factory, and Ford handed it over

Ford and Geely Auto will form a joint venture at Ford's Valencia plant in Spain, with Ford holding 66 percent and Geely 34. Operations start in the first half of 2027, and from 2028 the plant will add a new compact Bronco, a jointly developed Ford crossover and two Geely electric SUVs alongside continued Kuga production. It gives Geely its first European manufacturing base.

HP and Ferrari have built a limited-edition laptop after nearly two years of joint development, with a Rosso Magma finish, a carbon fibre and glass underside and cooling inspired by the F76 digital hypercar. It runs an Intel Core Ultra X7 with 64 GB of RAM and a 14-inch 3K Tandem OLED touchscreen. Just 4,999 numbered units will be made, at 5,599 dollars each.

Rezvani took a Huracan, lifted it 11 centimetres and added a supercharger

Rezvani has fully revealed the Dune, an off-road supercar based on the Lamborghini Huracan with the 5.2-litre V10 supercharged by VF Engineering to 800 hp and 1,064 Nm. It gains 28 centimetres of ground clearance, 31-inch mud-terrain tyres and a near-complete carbon-fibre body. Only seven will be built, and Rezvani has not published a purchase price.

Porsche Netherlands has launched a Dynamic Package for the Macan, Macan 4 and Macan 4S that bundles popular options including adaptive air suspension, matrix LED headlights, a panoramic roof and a Bose system. Designer Khyzyl Saleem, known as The Kyza, has rendered the new electric Renault Twingo as a widebody Turbo 3E, borrowing the look of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E. Formula 1 and LVMH's Moet Hennessy have launched The Out Lap, a 12-seat fine-dining restaurant built into a container on a flatbed truck that is driven around the grand prix circuit. It debuted at Spa-Francorchamps and runs at European rounds only this season, with menus by renowned chefs and Mika Hakkinen and Jacques Villeneuve as storytellers. Pricing is undisclosed and it is effectively an add-on for Paddock Club holders.

Porsche's Sonderwunsch department has built a one-off Taycan Turbo GT for a Swiss customer, finished in Paint to Sample Nordicgoldmetallic inspired by a 1970s Porsche shade. Around 30 bespoke details went into the car, more than 15 of them developed specifically for it. Underneath it remains the 1,108 hp Turbo GT, the most powerful Taycan built.

Aston Martin is marking 25 years of the Vanquish nameplate with a Q-built limited edition of 50 cars, split evenly between Coupe and Volante. Each keeps the 835 hp twin-turbo V12 and adds exclusive Q Skye Silver paint, bespoke metal foil detailing and a unique interior. It premieres at Monterey Car Week in August, with first deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2026.
