FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem says Formula 1's new V8 will launch in 2030, a year before the 2031 date also discussed. He promises an engine about 80 kg lighter and at least 50 percent cheaper. A 2030 start would give General Motors' own V6, due in 2029, a single season.

Jenson Button's Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG, one of 40 right-hand-drive coupés, goes to auction at the NEC in Birmingham on 14 November, estimated at £400,000 to £500,000. Button kept it from December 2004 to 2019. In 2012 he called DTM the best series after Formula 1, yet raced it only once, in 2019.

BMW puts a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 back in the 7 Series with the M760 xDrive, quoted at around 570 hp in American trim. Unlike the 760i it replaces, it will be sold in Europe from 2027, with no plug-in hybrid system. Euro 7 has already cost the M5's V8 41 hp here, and BMW has not published European figures.

The Audi A2, built at Neckarsulm from 1999 to 2005, had a 153 kg aluminium body shell and a 0.25 drag figure as the 1.2 TDI. Audi built just 176,377, Bernstein Research estimated it lost more than €7,500 on each, and the 2026 A2 e-tron reuses existing parts and robots to avoid that.

Ferrari's Atelier has built five one-off Sessanta cars for British dealer Dick Lovett's 60th anniversary: an Amalfi, a 12Cilindri Coupé and Spider, a Purosangue and a 296 Speciale, all in Blu Scuro. They copy the colour of chassis 8727, the 1966 330 GTC that Sergio Pininfarina used as his own design study.

Renault gives the electric Kangoo and Kangoo Van the 52 kWh battery from the Renault 5 and Renault 4, raising WLTP range from 286 km to as much as 354 km, pending homologation. DC charging rises from 80 to 100 kW, and new 135 hp and 155 hp motors replace the 120 hp unit.

Formula 1 has signed a 10-year deal to race in Rwanda, its first African Grand Prix since Kyalami in 1993. The race joins the calendar in the early 2030s at a new 6 km circuit in Bugesera, designed by Alex Wurz, with a 197-metre elevation change per lap.

Opel shows the STX Concept in Paris as a low electric estate rather than a raised crossover. It is only slightly longer than today's 4,642 mm Astra Sports Tourer, has all-wheel drive, active aerodynamics and a top speed above 200 km/h, and previews design for future Opels.

Geely will not buy Alpine's Signatech-run Hypercar programme, according to The Stint and Endurance-Info, ending the most realistic way to keep the A424 on the WEC grid in 2027. Alpine leaves the championship at the end of 2026, so the race-winning LMDh looks set to retire after the Monza finale on 8 November.
